Note: It is important not to confuse a concept map with an argument diagram

A traditional way of getting pupils to understand how ideas fit together is to get them to produce a concept map or spider diagram. One of the downsides is that they often miss things out or don't manage to produce an accurate map. One alternative is to give them a selection of cells and get them to arrange and link them appropriately. Once the activity has been completed a finished map can be given to them to ensure they have a correct answer. What is offered here is one possible map. It isn't meant to be the definitive answer and teachers may end up with different maps if they have presented the material in a different way.
