Some thoughts on marking instructions
One frustration with the marking instructions issued by the SQA is that they don't contain the actual questions. When produced for the marking team they have included the questions, which makes sense because it means they only have to refer to the one document rather than two, but when published for centres the questions are stripped out. I understand that including the questions might be difficult in some subjects either for copyright reasons or because of the length of the questions but I don't think a necessity in one subject should be an unnecessary imposition on others. The aim should be to make the marking instructions as useful as possible in every subject.
The marking instructions also have a lot of visual clutter. It really shouldn't be necessary to have three columns just for the question numbers. No doubt the document could be improved in all sorts of ways but I would suggest something like this.
