Validity

We have reached the point where we need to introduce some more technical vocabulary.

First the word 'Valid'.

It is very important to note that the technical use of this word is different to the everyday use of the word. In everyday usage it means something like 'good' or 'acceptable'. Someone might say 'that's a valid point' or 'to go on the ride you need a valid ticket'.

In the context of philosophy and the analysis of arguments it means something more precise than this.
